Stockport Council launched its Works & Skills Commission in January, which together with the work of its Poverty insight group forms part of the council’s Inclusive Growth agenda. The Commission takes a pioneering approach to addressing barriers to skills and employment in Stockport. This began with a series of workshops focussed on identifying the priority work, skills and local economic issues affecting Stockport. The newly appointed Work and Skills board has met for the first time, resulting in the development and publication of the Work and Skills action plan which is already being implemented.
