To ensure quality apprenticeships, Southwark Council has created the Southwark Apprenticeship Standard, a mark setting the standard for apprenticeships in the borough.  There are currently 50 signatories from a range of sectors and business sizes. The standard addresses four key areas that are central to the success of any apprenticeship: 1) secure employment, with a minimum contract of 12 months; 2) fair pay, with the payment of the London Living Wage; 3) quality training provision; 4) mentoring and support.  In recognition of the crucial role providers have in delivering successful apprenticeships we have also developed a directory of providers that meet the Standard so employers can find quality training resources.

The LGA Labour Group exists to fight the corner for Labour councillors at a national level, both within
the cross-party Local Government Association and with the Labour Party at Westminster. The Group provide a strong voice for Labour councillors and act as a platform for ideas and innovation for all those committed to an effective localist element to Labour politics and policies.
