Plymouth Energy Community (PEC) is a big-thinking, multifaceted Community Benefit Society, aiming to give Plymouth residents the power to change the way they buy, use and generate energy. PEC has grown from a council initiative into a large community-led operation offering many different services to help address fuel poverty and carbon emissions. Established in June 2013 with financial support from Plymouth City Council, PEC sets out to transform all things energy-related for the benefit of the local community.  Over 18,000 households have been reached as a result of PEC’s activities with 1,658 households engaged in one to one advice with a professional energy advisor. PEC has also delivered 8,907 tonnes of carbon savings - the equivalent to the amount sequestered by 119 hectares of conifer forest over its lifetime. Membership of the co-operative is free, voluntary and primarily open to residents, businesses, voluntary organisations, housing associations and institutions in Plymouth and the nearby areas. It now has over 1,600 members.

The LGA Labour Group exists to fight the corner for Labour councillors at a national level, both within
the cross-party Local Government Association and with the Labour Party at Westminster. The Group provide a strong voice for Labour councillors and act as a platform for ideas and innovation for all those committed to an effective localist element to Labour politics and policies.
