South Tyneside Council and its ALMO, South Tyneside Homes have created a new local Registered Provider, “South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust”. The Trust invests council resources towards new affordable homes to which the council receives nomination rights. This is an extremely successful model which has seen almost 400 homes, including 30 empty homes, brought into occupation, for affordable rent. There are a further four schemes which will provide over 50 additional homes, currently under construction or planned for construction.
