Launching a successful employment programme

Wolverhampton City Council and the Department for Work and Pensions launched an employment programme, known as Wolves at Work, aiming to place 3,000 local people into work, including 1,000 young people. The programme has already exceeded expectations by helping 3,293 residents secure employment, with 45% being aged 18 to 29. In addition there has been wide-spread local business support with over 400 business pledging support to the programme. Employers have committed to Wolves at Work in different ways, with pledges of work experience and commitments to recruit local people and train workforce mentors.
