Tower Hamlets Council

Tower Hamlets Council partnered with Metropolitan Police on Operation Continuum, which has led to 190 arrests for drugs offences with 91 people charged in Tower Hamlets.

It carried out 25 weapons sweeps with 33 weapons recovered. 399 ASB warning were issued, £171k in cash seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and 93 referrals to drug treatment services were made. The council delivered intelligence to the police in advance, and our staff then provided targeted visible community reassurance to make residents aware of the police action and follow up on reports of antisocial behaviour. Youth workers offered young people support and positive activities to take part in, support for any vulnerable people identified as homeless or those needing treatment for addiction was provided; and the council’s Clean and Green Team cleaned up graffiti. Operation Continuum is taking drug dealers off our streets and showing our residents the value of partnership working with the police.
